Pierre Adrien Marceillac realizes an old dream when at 50, he decides to build, in the Art Nouveau style, his Grand Hôtel Moderne, in Castelsarrasin. Determined, he entrusted to a Montalban architect, Antonin Maurou, the mission to realize this project. The challenge is great because this art movement is very little present in the region. And Pierre Marceillac has only one idea in mind: to reproduce this Art Nouveau atmosphere, felt when he worked for a few years in Vienna in the 1870s. In 1912, the Grand Hôtel Moderne is inaugurated: the dream of a life is finally realized. Five generations of Marceillac will be committed to respecting this heritage by preserving the facade, with its harmonious proportions but also the interior layout. A true art movement, Art Nouveau revolutionizes aesthetics and will mark all forms of expression (decorative arts, furniture, typography, sculpture, painting, architecture). It is inspired by nature, plant and animal forms and favors fine curved lines. The Hotel Marceillac welcomes you in this Art Nouveau setting and invites you to re-experience a night in the early twentieth century.
