At the origins of the Abbey Palace, the Hostellerie Sainte Foix was a prestigious hotel, intended for the reception of guests passing through Moissac: Pope Urban II and his suite stayed there in 1063, during the dedication of the altar Saint Sauveur in the Abbey church. From the 14th century, the building is assigned to several functions to meet the needs of the time: infirmary for the sick, place of hospitality for travelling priors, and palace for the residence of the father abbot. Refurbished in the 17th and 18th centuries, it has a beautiful grand staircase to access the upper level. The medieval garden in front of the Abbatial Palace features vegetable patches with flowers and medicinal plants. In the tower-chapel, the 13th century fresco detail, recently restored, is one of the most beautiful decorations in the Midi-Pyrénées region. The Abbey Palace currently houses temporary exhibitions (see agenda) PROGRAMMING
