The musicians met in 2017 at the Montpellier conservatory. Marla & The Cool Chicken is the brainchild of pianist and Lindy Hop dancer Damien Munos.

From the outset, the objective was clear: to play authentic, catchy swing, made for dancing.
Inspired by major figures such as Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Fats Waller, Oscar Peterson and the Double Six, the band offers personal arrangements of the great standards, some sung in French, as well as compositions in the swing tradition.
