9:30 pm: "Récits d'un jeune médecin", open field for Guillaume Doireau > "Thus begins "Récits d'un jeune médecin", an organic text that goes straight to the heart of the matter. Bulgakov depicts the daily life of a country doctor in Russia in the 1920s. While city-dwellers are fighting the revolution, he is battling snowstorms, loneliness and death. His reality is brutal, attacked head-on, without detour or artifice.
On stage, snow, real footprints, kerosene lamps, a revolver that's probably fake... The real storm is Bulgakov's words. At once biting, swirling and chilling, they lay bare the soul of this young doctor, who suddenly appears very real. Like his character, this show must be abrupt, honest, without complacency or laziness. The story has to be subjective and radical. I'm wary of realism, I believe in theatricality, and above all, we mustn't forget to play. That's the most important word. I want you to plunge with me into the head of this young man who is recounting his life, in which death interferes. Theater makes that possible.
